Pam Swan can bring the sounds of the Scottish Hebrides, Arctic Canada and the Georgia Sea Islands to your event as a featured speaker in the special presentation Mouth Music Around the World
Mouth music is rhythmic traditional a cappella found in every culture around the world-- songs used during work, play, social gatherings, or dancing when there are no instruments. This special presentation uses music as a passport to explore cultures around the world as Pam introduces your audience to the sounds and artifacts of distant cultures. Hear Inuit throat-singing, Scottish puirt-a-beul and play songs of the Georgia Sea Islands. Find out the surprising and funny lessons Pam learned about traditional cultures and their music as she traveled through the Scottish Hebrides, Canadian Arctic and sub-tropical Barrier Islands during the writing of her book Dance to Your Shadow: Chasing a Song Across the World. Additional features include information and examples of mouth music from the Caribbean, Africa, the central Asian Republic of Tuva, Appalachia, Ireland and more.
